Birth Processing & Professional Education Workshops

For Doulas & Birth Workers

                            Gr

Birth trauma processing and education sessions offer space for birth professionals navigating challenging or unresolved experiences in their work.

These sessions provide an opportunity to review medical events, clinical management, and the chronology of birth experiences through the lens of a nurse-midwife with over two decades of experience across home, hospital, and in-hospital birth center settings. Participants are invited to bring questions or cases that may have left them carrying emotional weight after supporting clients through complex or difficult births.

This work is grounded in both my clinical experience as a nurse-midwife and my early work as a doula. Before becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife, I worked as a doula, and throughout my midwifery career, doulas have frequently reached out to discuss births that felt troubling, confusing, or emotionally unresolved.

The goal is to support birth professionals in understanding and learning from challenging experiences, integrating new perspectives into future births, and developing greater clarity, confidence, and professional grounding.

Using guided discussion and a midwifery-informed perspective, participants explore how medical events, clinical decision-making, and emotional responses unfold during labor and birth—and how these experiences can affect both clients and care providers. This work supports the ability to distinguish one’s own emotional experience from that of the client while maintaining a thoughtful, grounded presence in practice.

This Work May Be Helpful If You:

  • Carry lingering emotional responses after certain births

  • Want to process cases that did not unfold as anticipated

  • Find yourself replaying births or asking “what if?” afterward

  • Seek a deeper understanding of how medical events and emotions intersect during labor

  • Want guidance from a midwifery-informed perspective

  • Are considering midwifery or are early in training

  • Wish to strengthen clarity, confidence, and professional boundaries in birth work
